GiGi Vintage

I looooove shooting for GiGi Vintage. If you haven’t checked them out yet, why not! Their fabulous Vintage finds have been featured in LOOK, GRAZIA and NOW Magazine and as they say on their website 'Every last bit of our clothing and accessories range consists of genuine vintage pieces that are totally one-off and have been handpicked during trips around the world'. Nominated in 2011 for a Fabulous High Street Fashion Award: 'Fabulous for fashion finds', they bring hand selected vintage pieces to your fingertips in their online boutique! I always come away buzzing with new ideas on styling, and pairing items in ways I would never have tried before! Like these lace bralets:

 Gurmeet the director of GiGi Vintage, was kind enough to source one for me and as soon as I got my hands on it I teamed it with some high waisted denim shorts and fabric scalf as a belt.

Alex Fia: the one woman team.

I love it when I have a quick check of my inbox and find an email from a photographer with images that I wasn't even expecting to receive! Alex Fia is one of the most talented people I have ever had the pleasure of working with; photographer, make-up artist, styling and retoucher! She does it all. This shoot took place in February 2011. Here are the two new images I recieved:

I love the styling and the roses, but when I see these images next to each other it reminds me a little of a before and after of a night out! Sleek and preened to perfection for the top image then more than a little bedraggled for the second image!

Some of my favourite shoots are when I get to do something a little different; like having gold leaf stuck to my face:

Climbing up a tree in heals? 

Having a 13ft 6 stone python draped around me? …and no this isn’t the work of Photoshop (well, ok the background was) but I was painted white and the snake was 100% real!

Creative make-up and styling are what keeps each shoot interesting. But for a while I've wanted to do something much simpler, stripped back and based on movement. This meant:

fixed poses

forced expressions

contrived styling

What I was looking for was an expressive project where I could just be me.

So when I was asked to do a project based on R.J Muna's work - the apparitions, I couldn't say no. Mark (the photographer) just let me dance and do whatever felt natural, so I just let go and moved. There was no choreography, no music and no styling. Just me, mark, his camera and lighting and some material wrapped around me to preserve my modesty. Below are some previews of the work in progress, which is leading to the final project; and I can't wait to share what Mark is planning to do for his exhibition... Watch this space!
